Fakro are slightly better than Keylite but much the same. Velux have the patented catch and handle that have a nice smooth action. Not only that, Velux have superior glass, thermal values and better seals. There is no comparison between Velux and other roof lights. The cost difference reflects the quality.you get what you pay for.

If the spec is what you want and you're getting the right flashing kit etc then it's a no brainer for me but I check the specs thoroughly as fakro have endless options.

Regard wether to select Velux or Fakro… Fakro have Z-wave windows. I havnt tried though. But at least this is a very good supported interface for working with openhab. I would contact Fakro and ask to get a communication module to test with a Z-wave controller. I dont know if these windows have been added to the database yet, but that should.
